Have free time? What do you do?

After a wonderful weekend, and having my hubby home yesterday, which made it feel like a long weekend, I was able to pull myself away from the computer and enjoy something other than writing. *gasp* I know, shocking, huh? What did I do? I went swimming in our creek. The weather was wonderful and in the low 90′s. The water was perfect. I swam, floated with the current, tickled a couple fish, and relaxed.

I love days where I can enjoy the other things that interest me. Taking the motorcycle or quad on the trails around the property is another thing that I love doing. I lose myself amongst the trees and the noise of the engine. Sometimes I like to ride with the whole family, and other times, I like to go alone. I also love to play tennis. I’ve been playing since I was six years old, and I imagine I will still be one of those hardcore tennis players when I’m seventy. This is the first summer that I skipped out of playing competitive tennis. I miss it, and know that I’ll make the time to join the ranks again next summer.

Last thing I enjoyed doing this weekend was deck sitting. Some of you might call this porch sitting. I say deck, because well…it’s a deck. lol A glass of Bailey’s over ice in my hand, a comfortable lounger, and a swift breeze blowing through and I can watch time sail right on by me. I think I like the way we all dream when we’re sitting out there. I get to hear plans that my kids have made, wishes for their future, and every once in awhile, they’ll share a secret. Hubby and I do the same thing. We reconnect, dream, and share our intimate thoughts. This isn’t just a summertime thing. We bundle up and sit out on the deck in the winter too.

What do you do when you have free time? Do you use the time wisely and enjoy the things you love?

I love sitting out on the deck too but since we moved to a new house we haven’t taken the time to build another one. I miss it!!

You won’t catch me playing any sports though. I am an indoor girl!! lol

Gina – I always think of our deck as an extension of our living room. I’d love if it was covered, so I could decorate it with more than outside furniture. lol

I’d go crazy if I had to stay inside too long. lol I’m an outdoor girl. ;-)
