It started out so innocently. I received my first book contract, hubby stopped at the liquor store to buy us a bottle of Bailey’s Irish Cream with Caramel, and we celebrated. That started our tradition of buying a bottle every time I received a contract. Hubby in his excitement would announce to the lady behind the counter exactly why he was buying it. You have to understand my hubby though…he can’t remember my book titles to save his life. When others ask him about the book, he’ll say something like… “It’s a book where the lady gets kidnapped, has wild sex, and there’s a bench in it that everyone wants.”
I love him. I really do. He tries so hard.
Within the last year, between my mainstream romance books under a different pen name and my erotic books, I have now contracted thirteen books. That equals thirteen bottles of Baileys, or it will tonight after hubby stops at the liquor store. Yesterday, I received the great news that Loose Id accepted my book, Twice Her Age, for their women’s fantasy book lineup. One book a month for the 2010 year will center around what women fantasize about. Sounds intriguing, doesn’t it?
Back to the lady at the liquor store, she has come to know my hubby well. She now greets him by name, asks after the wife and kids, and always gets him to tell the other customers in the store about the book that I just sold. If my good luck continues, I’m afraid we might develop a reputation around this small town. I can’t imagine the stories that will circulate! lol
I also have more good news. My bdsm cowboy story with Carina Press has a new title. Consent to a Cowboy I think this is a perfect title representing the storyline, the subgenre, and making readers wonder what kind of delicious book is behind the cover.
