Something about the approach of Spring causes the animals to go crazy around here. A few of the hens are starting to nest. A pair of the geese have become rather amorous lately. The mated wild ducks arrived, like they do every year, and soon will have babies swimming the creek with them.
Even the seagulls from the coast are pairing up and sticking close to each other.
I don’t think this is something that happens only to animals. It comes over us too. Puppy love is blooming. Husbands are getting more frisky. Women are paying more attention to men. Old people are walking hand in hand along the bike path at the park. Coworkers are flirting. It is a phenomenon as old as time.
