The sway beneath my feet and dock workers

Remember, if you email me at abbywood@authorabbywood.com with the subject PICK ME, you’ll be entered into the drawing on Friday for a free copy of Going Down at the DockWarning: This book should only be read by those 18 years old and over. It is scorching hot and my publisher has given it a Diablo Delights heat rating, the highest it goes!

Going Down at the Dock takes place at…you guessed it! The docks.

I admit that I love any kind of dock. From the hustle and bustle of a shipping dock with the many dock workers rushing about loading cargo, the blast from the ships, and the birds that congregate looking for a handout, to the small fishing docks. For my story, the characters that we find on the dock are savory, rugged, and have bodies that depict their long hours of heavy lifting. Mm…now where was I? Oh, yes. It is easy to lose yourself in the atmosphere. I live close enough to the coast that I often will walk the dock caught up in my own little world. I take pictures, I watch them load the ships, and story ideas dance in my head.

My heroine, Jasmine, isn’t out to take pictures. Nope. She has instructions from her Master. I dare say, she’ll enjoy her walk along the dock though. :-)

Have you ever had the pleasure to walk along the dock? Maybe it was a fishing dock or a small boat dock. Did you enjoy the movement beneath your feet, the breeze off the water, and the view?

I have only got to walk on a small boating dock and yes I loved the feel of it. I would love to walk on a much bigger dock some day I think it would be awesome.

A small dock will work! There is something so relaxing about being around water, and if you can feel the sway…that’s so much better. =)
