I’m not a fuddy duddy…really, I’m not. I love to get a wild idea and run with it. I like to have a friend call me up and invite me to a last minute gossip mingle at the local seafood bar. I even enjoy waking up and deciding to skip the laundry and cooking for a picnic down at the water. Routine and schedules have nothing on me!
Why is it that a holiday comes and I can’t wait for it to be over? Seriously. I really looked forward to Thanksgiving. This year my family stayed home, chilled out around the television, pigged out on a feast of high calorie foods, and enjoyed the odd day that we all stayed home to enjoy each other’s company. Friday, I hit a couple sales. By Friday night, I wanted my routine back. I wanted to sit down and write. I wanted to fold laundry, and clean my house again.
I think it all comes down to feeling like you’ve accomplished something. I enjoy crawling into bed each night knowing that I got the normal things done, plus I have accomplished X amount of words on my story. Now, I realize I have another big holiday to prepare for. I enjoy Christmas, but I also know that when the day arrives, I will be ready to throw the messy Christmas tree out the front door, get rid of all the red in my house, and all the new presents have to find their place in our homes.
Sigh.
I’m a fuddy duddy. Are you?
