Dominance and Submission

As I throw myself into research and writing, I am finding all sorts of links that capture my attention. My current kink to write about dominance and Submission. Face it, it isn’t something you talk about at Thanksgiving dinner with the family and I am finding that in real life, there is no perfect time to delve into the subject. Although, in my relationship/marriage we do not practice…I can see the excitement, the reasons behind why others would enjoy it. I had a talk with a friend a couple days ago. She scoffed and made the comment that  she could never be submissive because no one tells her what to do. My explanation that it had nothing to do with that fell on deaf ears. That is ok, because I’m not trying to convert anyone. ;-)

We did go a little off topic. She made the joke that in today’s world, I was probably viewed as a submissive wife. Ok, I get that. I don’t work outside the home…never have in fact, since I got married soon after high school. I cook all meals, my husband does not clean, cook, do laundry. He does outside work or what I refer to as Manly stuff. I don’t buy myself clothes without asking him, because I think that is the nice thing to do. Think 1950′s housewife, and you’ll see me. lol For todays topic we will skip over the fact that I’m opinionated, I have a wicked temper when I’ve been wronged, and an independent streak a mile wide. The huge thing that I can see as a comparison to a submissive and me is…I love to be taken care of. No matter how strong of a person I am, no matter how many responsibilities are laid on my shoulders it is a wonderful feeling to know that my husband is there to catch me. To me he is superman. I need that. I want that. I would not be happy without that type of hubby.

Here is a beginner’s guide to dom and sub http://www.aslavesheart.com/bdsma/begin.html A WARNING…there are pictures that are not for children on the website.

I didn’t post all this to ask if you understand the dom and sub world, or if you yourself could do it. I just wanted to share in how I love to learn about different lifestyles. I try to be open minded. I think that is one of the best gifts you can give yourself. I have a great curiosity about people, what makes them tick, and the reasons behind their choices. I find it all very interesting.

I’d venture to say that most submissive partners are wildly opinionated.

But nobody fits in one single box, wouldn’t you agree? ;)

I totally agree with you. This is one of the perks of writing, because I believe it opens my mind to different lifestyles. One of the major points I hope I make in my book is that a submissive doesn’t lose a part of themselves, but rather gains a part of herself/himself through living as a submissive. That is always a great thing.
      Thanks for posting. =)
