Brainstorming and plotting
That is what I am doing today. It isn’t going very well. lol I think I am rushing it, but that is besides the point. How do you go about working on a new story? Do you plot everything out or just get a wild idea and run with it?
Usually, I get an idea at some odd moment in my life that gives me something to think about. A whole story developes inside my brain. When I go to type it out, the basics are there, but the characters always (and I mean, every single time) decide to go in their own direction. End result..satisfaction.
Yet, here I sit. I’ve got a notebook full of ideas I’ve jotted down. I’ve still got the shapeshifter story started from a few weeks ago, yet something is urging me on…but it sure in the heck is keeping it a secret from me! Now you understand why writers drift to the insane side of the closet, huh? lol
I’m thinking I will do something totally different and off the wall. I’m going to outline a story on paper. The setting, the time, the characters, I’m going to give them problems, romance. I might even play at outlining each chapter and seeing if I can stick to it. Even the thought is scary to this fly by the seat of your pants gal. :-/ My goal is to write an even longer book than the 60,000 word paranormal I just wrote.
I’ll let you know how it works for me.
